The importance of PE
At Capel Manor Primary school, we recognise the importance of PE and the role it
has to play in promoting long term, healthy lifestyles.
The intent of our PE curriculum is to provide all children with high quality PE and sport provision. It is our vision for every pupil to succeed and achieve their potential as well as to lead physically active lifestyles. We strive to inspire our pupils through fun and engaging PE lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. We want our pupils
to appreciate the benefits of a healthy and physically active lifestyle.
Through our teaching of PE, we will provide opportunities for pupils to develop our school values and transferable life skills such as fairness and respect as well as providing them with opportunities to take part in competitive sport.
Throughout their time at Capel Manor the PE curriculum will support pupils with the following:
● Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities.
● Meet the needs of every child.
● Be physically active for sustained periods of time.
● Provide a caring, positive and supportive environment in which children will
flourish.
● Provide a broad, engaging and relevant curriculum.
● Engage in competitive sport and activities.
● Learn how to collaborate with others, as a team.
● Lead healthy and active lives.
● Children will appreciate the enjoyment of PE and how it encourages working
as a team.
● Learn how it promotes joyfulness and mental well-being.
● Learn how it allows them to be individuals and express themselves creatively.
● Learn how PE has impacted and influenced the lives of people for many years
and its place in history (e.g. Olympic values and Commonwealth Games).
● Utilise a PE curriculum that provides cross curricular links particularly through
PSHE, Science, Geography, RE, Maths, History and Literacy
This is how PE is taught at Capel Manor.

Well done to some of our Y3 & Y4 pupils who participated in the Football Tournament at Edmonton County Power league Pitches on Monday 3rd March. You all showed fantastic teamwork and were so supportive towards the other primary school football teams! Thank you for showing the value of kindness and ambition and for making Capel Manor so proud!
The Six School Games Values - PE Wall Display
Passion, Self-Belief, Respect, Honesty, Determination and Teamwork - were developed by young people to recognise how the experience of sport should be epitomised and embodied within schools, and to reflect the 'spirit' of the School Games.
School Games Award Mark* - Platinum
We are delighted to have been recognised for our success! With all of our KS2 pupils competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded with a Platinum School Games Mark this year! We are so proud of our school and this spectacular achievement! This means we are recognised as a school that provides lots of opportunities within sport to help pupils build their competence, performance, creativity and to lead healthy active lifestyle! We look forward to reapplying in the future!
